Battery Date Stamp

The Battery Date Stamp why? Did you know that all batteries have a date stamp on? I have recently come across there are many people selling second-hand batteries on Gumtree, Anazi, OLX and many other advertisements. If you click on any of these names you will see that those batteries are much cheaper.

People are told that this is new batteries.

The question that I ask myself how is it possible to sell a battery cheaper than the distributor. Batteries have a lifespan and are hazardous. Stop supporting secondhand battery sales to the public. Have you ever seen a battery explode?

On the image below, is a picture taken of a battery with the following date stamp on the battery. The battery date stamp is 5GR15, let me explain the stamp:

 Battery Date Stamp

  • 5 = The year of manufacturing this battery manufacturing year is 2015.
  • G = Battery manufacturing month is in Month 5 “May”
  • R = Country made or Battery Name in this instance R = Royal
  • 15 Day of Manufacturing

To summarise this specific battery manufactured date is 2015/05/15 for Royal Battery distributors.=”1/2″][us_single_image image=”4117″ size=”full”]=”1/2″]

  • The date code located on the cell nameplate
  • The code is MM/YY (May 2011 for this cell)
  • The letter that follows represents the plant the cell manufactured at (A=Attica, IN)

  • The date code located on the cell nameplate.
  • The code is MM/YY (March 2005 for this cell)
  • The letter that follows represents the plant the cell manufactured at (A=Attica, IN)

  • The date code is on a sticker on the cell cover.
  • The code is YMMDD where the year represented by the letters in the alphabet Y=2004 (December 8 and November 29, 2004 for these cells.

  • The warranty date code is on a label the cover MMYY May 2012 for this battery.
  • The date of manufacture located on the side of the cover and is the first five characters (YYMDD) 2012 March 21, for this battery.
  • A to M, excluding I, used for the months

The warranty date code is January to December at least one month after the date of manufacture.
